Our trip to Socotra island will begin in Cairo.

The flight departs from Cairo International airport Terminal 1 on Wednesday early morning. We need to be at the registration desk at 11 pm on Tuesday.

 This is our meeting point.

We will have a possibility to visit Alexandria, the Cairo Museum and the Sphinx in Giza. We can arrange this excursion before Socotra trip or after.

  1. Before Socotra option, you have to come to Cairo on Saturday evening. Sunday we will make Alexandria excursion, Monday Giza trip, Tuesday will be busy with the Cairo museum.  Three overnights at the hotel in Cairo.
  2. After Socotra option, we arrive from Socotra on Wednesday afternoon and we go to the hotel for overnight. On Thursday morning we go to Alexandria, Friday to   Giza to visit Sphinx. On Saturday we are going to the Cairo Museum.


Day1: Arrival to Socotra

Arrival Socotra airport and transfer to the hotel in Hadibo for check-in. After lunch drive to Delisha beach: activity is visiting the coast which consists of pristine white sand, relaxing, swimming both in the sea and in the freshwater lagoon with all the beautiful mountain background. After witnessing a fabulous sunset, back to the hotel in Hadibo dinner and overnight.at the hotel in Hadibo.

Day 2: Hadibo – Homhil P.A. – Arher beach

After a short visit of Hadibo, the nursery of the native trees, the old market, we drive to Homhil Protected Area and hike down to the north-east coast through wadi Al-Shifa (3 hours) where we will meet the car; we keep driving to Arher beach which is the place where the fresh water coming from the mountain makes pools and meets the salty water coming from the ocean. Activity is exploring the coast, swimming in the sea, climbing the sand dunes, relaxing in the pools. Dinner and overnight in Arher.

Day 3: Arher - Hoq cave –Dihamri P/A

We drive from Arher beach to a small village from where we hike to Hoq cave, the biggest cave on the island (3 kilometers long). We hike up for two hours with some scrubby paths but aren't steep ascent, till we reach the gate of the cave and then we will trail a smooth alley for two hours in and back. Stalactites, stalagmites, and magnificent columns are widespread all along. After lunch, we will make our way to Dihamri marine life Protected Area, which is home to one of the richest coral reefs in the archipelago with 4 of the 5 coral species that inhabit to the Island. Dihamri offers excellent snorkeling, and for certified divers, one of the best dives that Socotra Islands has to offer, with great opportunities to see parrotfish, moray eel, rays, sea urchins, etc. This shallow reef will let even the inexperienced snorkeler enjoy its beauty. We would like to remind people not to touch the corals in the marine protected area as this would cause irreversible damage. Dinner and overnight in Dihamri marine P/A.

Day 4: Dihamri P/A /Mumi plateau /wadi Kalisan

After breakfast we will drive to Mumi plateau, which is undeserving visited by tourists very rare, this is a remote part of the island Socotra famous for many beautiful and mysterious places. Here we will admire flourishing odd-shaped bottle trees most of which are higher a man height to spend the night in the middle of the plateau, at habitat of a great many bottles, from where we will see magnificent panoramic view at sunset overnight at edge of canyon of wadi Kalisan in Mumi plateau Dinner and overnight in Kalisan Mumi plateau.

Day 5: Dogub cave - Hayf - Wadi Dfaarho – Amak beach

After breakfast, we will make our trip to Dogub cave, which is scattering of traditional villages below. The cave is interesting as there are many stalactites, stalagmites, and water that have seeped through the rock over time. After that, we will drive to Wadi Dfaarho on a way where you can see traditional villages and natural pools at the bottom of the canyon. The unusual Desert Rose trees cling places on the canyon walls. The vegetation here is lush green and there are birds and forest of frankincense trees. Then we will continue our way to the natural zoon of the colossal sand dunes of Hayf and Zaheq which have been pushed up against the mountain seasonal wind of Socotra. You can climb the dunes for a view that is truly worth then we will drive to the south up to Amak beach where you can swim in the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Dinner and overnight in Aomak beach.

Day 6: - Aomak beach cave - Dixam plateau /Fermin forest – Scand/

After breakfast, we will make our way by 4x4 vehicles to Dixam plateau and Shebahon viewpoint. This area is renowned for dragon blood trees, the resin of which is collected, used and traded by the people of Socotra. The area is also home to the endemic and rare bird, Socotra bunting (estimated at 1,000 pairs). The Shebahon viewpoint gives a fabulous view overlooking Dirhur canyon where we will see unusual yet beautiful rock formations. We will then make our way down to the wadi for lunch and an easy walk and maybe also a swim in a freshwater pool with a natural slide.

Through the forest of the Dragon’s Blood tree of Fermin forest, till we come close to the highest peak on the island. In the afternoon we will arrive at Scand, located about 1200m above sea level. This area is known for its very rich and abundant diversity of flora & fauna. Here is some of the most breathtaking scenery in Socotra. We will enjoy the rest of the afternoon exploring the area. Dinner and overnight in the wadi.

Day 7: Qalasyia - Detwha lagoon Shouab bay ( trip by boat)

Today we will drive to the western part of the island where a little fishermen’s town of Qalansyia is located. It consists of traditional Socotri houses, narrow alleyways and a long beach full of fishing boats ready to set off for today’s catch. We will continue to neighboring Detwah lagoon which is a marine protected area renowned for its magic landscape. You will be charmed by a white sandy tongue surrounded by turquoise waters of the bay. This surely is one of the best views on the island. You can jump in the shallow sea there and enjoy the paradise. Only be careful of stingrays that can be seen in the lagoon. There is also an array of sea birds to be seen in the lagoon. After lunch in Detwah, we will take a traditional fishing boat to the pristine beach at Shouab seeing beautiful rock cliffs, fishing and perhaps cormorants and dolphins on the way. There are also mangrove trees on this beach.

Day 11: Departure from Socotra

After an early breakfast we will transfer to Socotra airport. You can visit a souvenir shop there while waiting for a short, flight to Cairo.
