Day 1: Cairo-Socotra

Upon your arrival at Socotra airport, we will have lunch and check in the hotel in Hadibo. In the afternoon we will visit Delisha beach, with pristine white sands full of crabs. You will relax while swimming both in the sea and in a freshwater lagoon. If you are full of energy you can climb a huge sand dune overseeing the beach. There is also a possibility of watching a fabulous sunset from Delisha beach.

Day 2: Hadibo/Dihamri marine protected area

We will drive to Dihamri marine protected area. It boasts with one of the richest coral reefs on the archipelago. You can relax on the beach in palm leaf huts and swim and snorkel in Dihamri Bay. Snorkeling gear can be hired there. Marine species you will see underwater include: Parrotfish, Moray eel, Rays, Sea urchins if you are lucky you will meet turtles. Divers can also use the services of Dihamri Diving center and go for a dive in Dihamri or another of superb diving spots of Socotra.

Day 3: Dihmari/Qareah lagoon/ Homhil protected area/

Our destination is Homhil with fabulous sceneries that is give you a kind of prehistoric feeling. We will stop at Qareah lagoon en-route. It is the largest lagoon on the island and we will hopefully see the flamingos, herons, and greenshank. The treks to Homhil start at the bottom of a spectacular ravine on the level. The trek is of medium difficulty and won’t take more than 1-2 hours; you will have enough strength to enjoy the view back towards the sea we have started ascending. Once at Homil, we can choose from a selection of week trails. You will be astonished by the prehistoric atmosphere of the landscape rich with dragoon blood trees and bottle trees. You will be addressed by local children who sell dragoon blood trees raisin and frankincense. One of the trails to a viewpoint with a natural pool with almost freezing green and blue water.

Day 4: Homhil P/Wadi Shifa/ Arher beach /Ras Erissel

Breakfast will be served at 6:30 am, and then we will walk down to Wadi Shifa, taking in lovely valley scenery followed by expansive sea views of Wadi Shifa (medium one and half hour walking) where the cars can meet us on the Wadi, then after that we will drive to Dedam cave a small cave for quick lunch. Then we drive to the northeast coast of the Island to Arher area, which is a meeting point of fresh water from the mountain and salt water from the Indian Ocean. Arher is also home to another magnificent sand dune. The end of the day is for enjoying swimming and exploration of this location. If you are feeling especially fit? It is possible to climb the huge sand dunes, which are a fantastic view, and then we can also have a trip to Ras Erissel, the most easterly point of the island, where the waters of the Arabian sea meet the Indian ocean and explore the windy east extreme of the island.

Day 5: Arher beach/ Hoq cave/ Arher

After breakfast we will make an early start to drive to the base of Hoq cave in Terbak village. Before the sun gets too hot, we will walk up to the entrance of the cave; it is more than 3 km long with pool at the end and holds weather of socotri history. Inside: you will see ancient stalactites, stalagmites and crystallizes formation. Ancient writings on the Hoq cave walls and also what appears to be a picture of an old trading ship have been preserved over the ages by a calcite glaze. There is also evidence to suggest that the cave was once used for ritual a purpose by the presence of mysterious alters. We will finally move to Arher beach.

Day 6: Arher/Wadi Dfaarho/Aomak beach/Hayaf Dogub cave

After breakfast, we will make our trip to Dogub cave, which is scattering of traditional villages below. The cave is interesting as there are many stalactites, stalagmites, and water that have seeped through the rock over time. After that, we will drive to Wadi Dfaarho on a way where you can see traditional villages and natural pools at the bottom of the canyon. The unusual Desert Rose tree clings places on the canyon walls. The vegetation here is lush green and there are birds and forest of frankincense trees.

Day 7: Hayaf/Zaheq sand dunes /Degab cave/Mateaf beach

After breakfast, we will drive to continue our way to the natural area of the colossal sand dunes of Hayaf and Zaheq which have been pushed up against the mountain seasonal wind of Socotra. You can climb the dunes for a view that is truly worth then we will drive to the south up to Mateaf beach where you can swim in the clear waters of the Indian Ocean.

Day 8: Mateaf/Dixam plateau/Shebahon viewpoint/Wadi Dirhur

After breakfast, we will make our way by 4x4 cars to Dixam plateau and Shebahon viewpoint. This area is renowned for Dragon blood trees, the resin of which is collected, used and traded by the people of Socotra. The area is also home to the endemic and rare Socotra Bunting (estimated at 1,000 pairs). The Shebahon viewpoint gives a fabulous vista overlooking Dirhur canyon (wadi) where we will see unusual yet beautiful rock formations. We will then make our way down to the Wadi Dirhur for lunch and an easy walk and maybe also a swim in a freshwater pool with a natural slide.

Day 9: – Wadi Dfarho/Firmhin forest /Haggier mountains /Skand

After breakfast we will go hiking the wadi Dfarho for 3 hours lunch in Dfarho: after lunch we will hike 2 hours to Firmhin Dragoon blood trees forest which is the most density area of dragoon blood trees, we will hike up to Skand area which is the highest mountain in Socotra island where you can see the south coast and north cost and so many different kinds of endemic plants (approximately 5 hours easy walk ) 15km-600m.

Day 10: Wadi Madhiro/Tanareh/Wady Ayhaft

After breakfast, we will hike down to wadi Madhiro and to Tanareh. After you refresh yourself we will take you for a trip to wadi Ayhaft National Park. In the canyon, you will enjoy large freshwater pools where you can swim or soak. All around you, there will be Tamarind trees, Cucumber trees and a wide variety of birds such as Socotra Sparrow, Socotra Sunbird and both Socotra and Somali Starlings. As a matter of fact, Ayhaft is considered as a natural nursery due to its large abundance of endemic trees, plants, and birds.

Day 11: Wadi Ayhaft/turtles beach of Qadama/Qalansiya

Today we have a trip to Ayhaft Canyon National Park. In the canyon (wadi), you will enjoy large freshwater pools where you can swim or soak. All around you, there will be Tamarind trees, Cucumber trees and a wide variety of birds such as Socotra Sparrow, Socotra Sunbird and both Socotra and Somali Starlings. In fact, Ayhaft is considered as a natural nursery due to its large abundance of endemic trees, plants, and birds. After enjoy visiting Ayhaft we will go to Qadama beach where we can see the turtles beach and also we will spend our overnight there.

Day12+13: Qadama /Qalansiya /Detwah lagoon P/A

Today we will drive to the western part of the island where a little fishermen’s town of Qalansyia is located. It consists of traditional Socotri houses, narrow alleyways and a long beach full of fishing boats ready to set off for today’s catch. We will continue to neighboring Detwah lagoon which is a marine protected area renowned for its magic landscape. You will be charmed by a white sandy tongue surrounded by turquoise waters of the bay. This surely is one of the best views on the island. You can jump in the shallow sea there and enjoy the paradise. Only be careful with stingrays that can be seen in the lagoon. There is also an array of sea birds to be seen in the lagoon.

Day 14: Qalansiya /Golden sands of Shouab beach/Hadibo

Breakfast will be served at 6:00 am; after breakfast, we will take a traditional fishing boat to the pristine beach at Shouab seeing beautiful rock cliffs, fishing and perhaps cormorants and dolphins on the way. There are also mangrove trees on this beach, where you can go for an easy swim. After the return boat trip to Detwah lagoon for lunch, we will drive back to the capital city of Socotra (Hadibo).

Day 15: Departure from Socotra to Cairo

After an early breakfast, you can visit a souvenir shop, plant nursery, Socotra woman association, and market, while waiting for transfer to Socotra airport for your flight to Egypt.
